Mercedes-Benz C63 S AMG: Preview

Performance seems to be the key for Mercedes-Benz this year. It has, this year, launched three AMG-spec models for the Indian market and now looks set to bring a fourth one into the country. This car is the C63 AMG S, a high performance version of its award winning four-door sedan.
Exterior
The C63 AMG S looks like the standard C-Class but now gets the AMG-spec body kit and large 19-inch wheels. The body kit comprises sporty bumpers, side skirts and a quad exhaust setup while the wheels are the familiar double slat five-spoke wheels with the AMG badging in the centre. Also included in the external design is the large brakes and contrast coloured callipers.
Interior
The cabin, in standard Mercedes-Benz fashion, mimics that of the sedan but with special elements to match the AMG pedigree.
Engine and gearbox
The C63 AMG S is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 510bhp and 700Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via the seven-speed dual clutch AMG speedshift gearbox. All this power propels it from 0-100kmph in four seconds and it then eventually hits an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. In terms of mechanicals, it gets a locking differential as well as dynamic engine mounts sourced from the AMG GT.
Price and competition
We expect that the C 63 AMG S will be priced in the range of Rs 1.2 crore to Rs 1.5 crore. It will compete with the BMW M3 in the Indian market.
